Simply put, Yanco makes my favorite bike bags. He’s not the only bag maker I buy from, but his honesty and his drive towards simplicity and effectiveness is what keeps me coming back time and time again. He custom makes his bags in Los Angeles, CA by had one at a time. The customer chooses the colors and materials according to what he has available. What I love most is that he won’t make bags he doesn’t think will fit and look great on my bikes. This could be because we’ve become good friends over the past few years, however this is super refreshing and important to me in such a maddeningly consumer driven “Yes” world. He stands proud behind every bag he makes. He will also sometimes do small batch work but all of those too, custom made, by hand, one at a time.
He started years ago with cycling caps and top tube pads when the fixie craze was in full swing. His next big step was in making near perfect tool rolls that attach to a bike’s saddle. After that what pushed him forward even more was coming up with what is now his well known and often mimicked handlebar bag. Recently he’s been making all sorts of different kinds of bags for all different parts of my bikes. He even made an incredibly tiny little running fanny pack that fits a cell phone, ID, key, and nothing else. Nothing extra, only what’s needed.
The honor and drive he shows in a world full of copy cats and marketing gimmicks is what makes me constantly excited to keep coming to him with new ideas. I can’t recommend him enough. You can see his work and reach him at @jonesville on Instagram.
